day visits to community oriented generic and specialist services for
users, including Whiteside area Community Mental Health Teams,
Assertive Community Treatment, mobile intensive treatment and
rehabilitative services |
To actively
observe and engage professionals working in community oriented
services in discussion about the nature of their professional
education to identify the requisite skills taught to enable
practitioners to undertake their community practice |

Week 3

the University of South West Greensville |
To meet, discuss
and observe the way in which educationalists involved in delivering
mental health professional programme, equip pre-registration and
qualified staff with the requisite skills to work with users who have
serious mental illnesses. Particular reference to skills for
assertive outreach, crisis intervention and active therapeutic
engagement will be examined during the course of the visit |
