The
Florence Nightingale Foundation raises funds to provide scholarships
for nurses and midwives to study at home and abroad, to
promote innovation in practice, and to extend knowledge and skills to meet
changing needs.
Investments from
these funds are used to provide money for some of the Scholarships. The funds
from the Foundation are of no set limit regarding the amount that can be
awarded each year. Some of the Scholarships are individually and generously
sponsored and bear the name of the sponsoring organisation. The Foundation
manages the process of selection and the monitoring of the outcome of the
awards. The Travel Scholarships take Scholars far and wide to study a range of
subjects covering every aspect of nursing and midwifery. An
amount of funding is available to undertake aspects of Research Courses. These
are sponsored by The Band Trust (see below)
Applicants need not
specify the Travel Scholarship they are applying for as, after the selection
process has taken place, the successful candidates are matched to the various
