Students Day

Up Students 2009

STUDENTS’ DAY

This is an annual event – one of the most popular in our calendar – in which a student(s) from each University in the UK that has a School of Nursing and Midwifery is invited to spend the day with us here in London.

The main venue for the day is The Governors’ Hall at St Thomas’ Hospital: the events are split into three separate segments:

bullet Morning plenary discussion session in which students are invited to raise questions or concerns to a Panel of senior nurses.
bullet The afternoon is spent at the Florence Nightingale Museum and includes a full tour of the Museum together with a history of the life and times of Miss Nightingale, and her continuing influence on nursing today.
bullet Finally, a visit to the Nurses’ Chapel in Westminster Abbey and attendance at the Annual Florence Nightingale Commemoration Service in the Abbey.

The day starts with registration from 10am to 11am, lunch follows at 1.15pm, tea at 4.30pm and the Service will end at approximately 7.30pm.

If you would like to attend you will need to be nominated by either your Dean or Lecturer using the attached proforma (PLEASE CLICK HERE), or in writing – letter or email, that must be authorised by your School.  Please remember to include full postal contact details with your nomination.

Colleagues at your School may have attended in previous years – they will confirm what an exceptional day it is – so do join us.
